What course are you studying?

Applied Biomedical Science, Level 3, which is equivalent to 3 A-Levels.

Why did you choose this course?

I chose this course because I have always had an interest in the physiology of the human body and pursuing a career in health.

Why did you decide to come to Kendal College?

The College is Ofsted Outstanding and has fantastic, brand new facilities. On the open day, all of the staff were friendly and approachable, I could easily see myself studying here.

What is the teaching style like on your course?

There is a brilliant balance between theory and practical lessons throughout this course, which has enabled me to not only learn the required course content but also get experience of specific scientific techniques used in industry. All of my tutors have amazing background knowledge and are there to help whenever I need it. The teaching style is varied which makes every lesson interesting.

Is College like you had expected. If not, why?

Kendal College is better than I expected. The facilities and the quality of the laboratory are fantastic, the resources/ equipment available on this course are professional and could not be found in a school environment.

What opportunities has College offered you as a student?

The college offered me the option to study Biology A-Level alongside this course. I have found this particularly helpful and relatable to the Biomedical Science course. There have also been several opportunities for trips away on this course.

What are you planning to do after College/ what career are you hoping to pursue?

I applied to the University of Cumbria to study Occupational Therapy, attended an interview and have been accepted. I’m looking forward to using the knowledge I’ve developed in College in my degree studies.

Would you recommend studying at Kendal College (and why)?

I would definitely recommend studying at Kendal College. I believe that the quality of teaching and facilities available are hard to find elsewhere.

If you could give one piece of advice to people considering College, what would it be?

I would say that if you are considering Kendal College then you should just apply. The College is better than I imagined and offers something for everyone, alongside quality teaching from people who really know what they are talking about.
